Welcome to Secondary School
Years 7 to 11
With 180 years of experience in education, we provide boys and girls with a modern, first-class all-round education that equips them for university and life beyond.
Students in our Secondary School graduate as well-rounded young individuals, having achieved IGCSE and A-Level results that they can be proud of, often securing places at top universities of their choice.
All Secondary pupils benefit from exceptional specialist teaching, which encourages them to take ownership of their learning and cultivate independent, inquisitive minds. At the same time, we ensure that every student is fully supported by a strong pastoral framework, fostering their confidence and personal growth.
Additionally, the opportunities available outside the classroom are unparalleled. Our vibrant school community offers outstanding programs in sports, creative arts, and outdoor education, ensuring a holistic educational experience.

Extra-curricular
At Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur, we offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. We believe that to fulfil our vision of providing every child with the best possible all-around education and care, enrichment activities and sports must be integrated into the curriculum during the school day.
The extended schedule ensures that every pupil can explore interests and talents beyond the classroom, fostering character development, teamwork skills, and self-confidence.
Cheltenham UK has a rich heritage of sporting success. On the sports field alone, they participate in over fifteen different competitive sports. The concept of inclusivity in sports is endorsed at Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur where pupils of all ability levels have the chance to both participate and compete whilst utilising the phenomenal sports facilities available to every pupil.
Academic Extension
We also believe in inspiring pupils to explore subjects in more depth. Our Academic Extension activities are an integral part of Cheltenham life and include society meetings, debating, educational trips and visits. The programme not only embeds a love of learning that will last a lifetime but also supports applications to universities.
Community and the Environment
Community service and charity work are integral to the ethos of Cheltenham Kuala Lumpur. Our pupils are encouraged to actively support both the local and wider Seeb community. The school buildings are purposefully designed to maintain a low carbon footprint, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. Students are taught to be environmentally responsible and engage in various projects focused on promoting sustainability and conservation.
Pastoral Care
The health and wellbeing of our pupils is an integral part of school life.
Making sure pupils feel happy, safe, and supported at school is the most effective way to ensure they fulfil their potential.
Pastoral care is the responsibility of every adult in the school. Their commitment is to foster a genuine and familiar sense of belonging so that each child is known individually and feels secure in every endeavour. This also enables us to identify when a little extra care and attention may be needed and act immediately.
All staff at Cheltenham are highly skilled and trained in pastoral care, so that every pupil can be an active member of their tutor group and the wider school community.
Our house system builds loyalty, pride and belonging where pupils enjoy the chance to mix with older and younger years, creating a deeper sense of community, inclusivity, and responsibility. They also, of course, benefit from this valuable source of friendly rivalry and competition.
Throughout the year we recognise such things as mental health awareness, antibullying and online safety.
While we hope that everyone enjoys their time at school we recognise that many children can have their ups and downs, so the pastoral team is further supported by a school counsellor.
Central to our pastoral care is the partnership we develop with families. When your child joins the school, we begin the process of engaging in a continuous dialogue with you to ensure that care is collaborative, proactive, and personal.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
At Cheltenham Kuala lumpur, our principal language of instruction is English.
We acknowledge that many of our pupils are learning in their non-native language and therefore offer excellent EAL programmes to ensure that all pupils can fully access the curriculum. Our EAL programmes offer pupils group sessions and one-to-one tuition. We also provide additional teaching and learning resources, online activities, and mentoring. Pupils attending additional EAL lessons will be consistently monitored, with regular assessments to track progress.
An extra charge is applied for additional EAL support identified either at the time of your child being admitted or as they progress through the school.
Higher Education & Careers
We recognise that the education we provide helps to shape the adults that our pupils will become and the careers they will pursue.
This is why, from the very start, we focus on educating the whole person. We help the most able stretch and challenge themselves to prepare for the very best universities and we support those who find academic work more challenging to find the very best within themselves.
From Year 10 onwards, all pupils begin to work with our dedicated Higher Education and Careers specialist. In addition, our pupils have access to career talks from our network of staff, parents, alumni and industry contacts.
All of our pupils are supported through the choices they make during their school career. For example, IGCSE subject choices in Year 10.
